World Trial News Update: July 27, 2008
The semi-finals and finals of the World Trial are scheduled to run on Field 2. Some information has been sent to handlers indicating Trial field 1 is where the semis and final will be held. This information is incorrect. It is trial field 2 that will be used.
North and South Wales Trials
Some people have been asking how they can enter the trials in the North and South of Wales ahead of the World Trial. In most cases, entry is on the day on the trial field. That means you just turn up, enter and run. No pre-entry is required. There are some exceptions to this so please check the trials diaries (see below). If the event says pre-entry - then enter now! If it doesn't you can assume it is entry on the field. If in doubt, please contact the trials secretary listed for completely accurate information.
DVD/Video
At this point the ISDS cannot confirm whether the event will be taped for video/DVD purposes. But, it will be webcast as per the June 17th update (below). If we can confirmation either way re: taping, we will update you.
Tickets continue to sell well, the campground is almost full, accommodation availability is starting to tighten (but is not impossible to find), and the organization is going well.
World Trial News Update: June 17, 2008
Organization for the World Trial is coming along very smoothly. Tickets sales have been very good to date, and grandstand tickets are selling fast! Don't wait to get these or you will miss out.
S4C, which is a Welsh TV station, will be filming the semi-finals and finals. We are hoping to be able to provide a webcast of these with a 24-hour delay. For those people not able to attend the World Trial in person, you should be able to see the semi-finals on the web on the Sunday (14th) and the finals on the Monday (15th). It won't be as good as being here in person, but it's better than not seeing the World Trial at all!
We've also got a BIG screen TV that will show you who is running on each of the three trial fields. So, if you have a favourite handler and you don't want to miss their run, you'll be able to see who is at the post for each of the three trial fields and who is next up on each field. This will give you time to get to the field to see your favourite handler. The trial fields are quite close together so it won't take you long to get from one field to the next.
Eighteen competitors have now been profiled on the site and Angie will be adding more profiles in the coming weeks. These profiles can be found here. The latest competitors to be profiled are Chloe Cropper and Michael Longton, both from England. Chloe is the youngest competitor at this year's World Trial and she's a good one (and a nice person too)! Michael Longton is also one of the younger handlers at the World Trial. His family needs no introduction.
The World Trial calendar and pup calendar are now available for purchase. These calendars feature some of the best photos received during the two photo contests which proved very popular. Photos are of sheepdogs from around the world. Information on these can be found here. We have already received orders for over 100 of these calendars and only 700 are available for sale to the public.
For any Royalists, you'll be disappointed to hear that HRH Prince Charles will not be coming to the World Trial. Oh well, we would rather have had William anyway - much cuter!
There are mutterings of a BIG Welsh BBQ for competitors on the Thursday evening. We'll get more information on this. Come hungry. The Welsh know how to put on a real BBQ.
